There is a ban on commercial cannabis in all unincorporated areas of the county. Both the City of Shasta Lake and REU (Redding Electric Utility) have the luxury of some of the cheapest electric rates in the state due to local hydro-power sources. This is a huge consideration if you are thinking of investing in a cultivation center which by law in Shasta will be an indoor cultivation facility. Be sure to check on the utility provider and ask about the rates.

With a population of just over 90,000 and numerous outlying communities, Redding is the largest city in Northern California north of Sacramento, and is located in the I-5 corridor. With this in mind Redding has a lot more going on than most communities in the far reaches of Northern California. A short list of entertainment options includes Redding Civic Auditorium, Cascade Theater, Turtle Bay Exploration Park, a bustling farmers market, and a large number and variety of restaurants and shopping venues. Redding is also home to Shasta Regional Medical Center, Mercy Medical Center, and Shasta College.

For the outdoor enthusiast you will find that Redding is a great jumping off point for an incredible spectrum of recreational opportunities. The Sacramento River, a major waterway in the Central Valley, flows through Redding with Castle Crags State Park, and Mt Shasta to the north, Lassen Volcanic National Park to the east and the Trinity Alps to the west. For lake lovers Whiskeytown National Recreation Area and Shasta Lake are both a short drive away.

Location and climate for growing in Shasta

Shasta County lies adjacent to the Emerald Triangle neighboring Trinity County to the east. This area is home to hot summers and mild winters. The climate here produces incredible gardening opportunities and cannabis thrives here. Growing Condition in Shasta County

Although the climate in Shasta County, California is perfect for growing marijuana, the current rules dictate that cultivation operations are indoors only. Additionally licenses are only distributed in Redding and Shasta Lake, with all commercial cannabis operations banned in the unicorporated parts of the county. As you can see by the charts below, Shasta County falls in the 9a-9b zones on the USDA hardiness chart. Elevations are just about 200-500 feet on most city floors.
